Old Home

Most people know him for his miniature paintings on discarded chewing gum, but Ben Wilson’s work is far more varied and complex.

Whether painting a piece of gum or a ceramic tile, or constructing a vast outdoor sculptural environment, Ben works in a consciously spontaneous way, allowing each artwork to evolve from its place and time.

Aware of the ways in which our day-to-day environments impact us, Ben makes art which unassumingly infiltrates our public spaces to make a difference. His work challenges the alienating dominance of big-brand advertising by introducing alternative, surprising and personal images with the potential to reconnect us with each other and with our surroundings.
